Life in August

Life has been more than hectic in August...basically meaning work as our department is currently down 2 people. And now with Hurricane Ernesto threatening, I am on Team A at the hospital...living there until everything blows over. Hopefully it will weaken and become a big fat ZERO!
It was a wakeup call that I really needed to get cooking on my hurricane sock for my pal (still need to add to the kit which I will do after work tomorrow). I still need to create the short-row heel (my second one ever) so I will be running a lifeline.

Here's what I have so far for my Hurricane Sock Pal (it's the Here Be Dragons pattern in Fleece Artist Rain Forest):

I also organized my stash and tried to safeguard it as much as possible...wow do I have a lot of yarn and hate to even hazard the estimated value. Nuff said it's a lot!

Other knitting news, I finished my Tempting II in Rowan Calmer yesterday. I loved working with the Calmer except every change of yarn and bump and blemish all show up. I did adapt the neckline...had to decrease the final length as otherwise the neck would be past my neck. Plus I went down a needle size for the sleeves used double-pointed 7s instead of 8s. I also couldn't find a buckle so used two buttons that I found in JoAnn. I'm not modeling as I need to find a nude strapless bra to wear underneath. Like I need an excuse to go shopping at Victoria's Secret. It also needs to be soaked...maybe the blemishs will blur. Wishful thinking!

But my favorite knit during August has been Miriam's Adamas Shawl. Hence putting off working on the deadline of my Hurricane Sock pal's sock. The pattern is easy to follow and I can't wait to see Mom's expression when it's done. I think that I might bead the edging. We'll see. I'm up to row 8 of the 10th repeat...3 more repeats to complete and then the edging and blocking. Here she is now:

Off to work on the dragons...
